Josefa Ros Velasco

Josefa Ros Velasco is a postdoctoral researcher in the Department of Philosophy and Society at the Complutense University of Madrid since September 2019. Previously, she was Assistant Professor in the Department of Romance Languages and Literatures at Harvard University and a postdoctoral fellow at the Real Colegio Complutense at Harvard in the same department (2017-2019). She holds a European Doctorate in Philosophy from the PhD Excellence Program at UCM, with a FPU scholarship from MECD, and a thesis entitled Boredom as a selective pressure in Hans Blumenberg (Outstanding cum laude) with which she won the Extraordinary Doctorate Award 2016-2017. She has a Master's Degree in Contemporary Thought and its Historical Budgets (2011) and in Teacher Training (2012) with Honors. She has a degree in Philosophy (2010) and in Advertising and Public Relations (2012) with an Extraordinary End of Studies Award. She is a specialist in Boredom Studies from a multidisciplinary perspective that investigates the evolution of the concept of boredom as psychopathology through Western philosophical, literary and theological narratives throughout history. She is the author/editor of books such as Boredom Is in Your Mind (Springer, 2019); The Culture of Boredom (Brill, 2020); or The Faces of Depression in Literature (Peter Lang, 2020). She is currently working on her next monograph: The Disease of Boredom and is building the first Society for the Study of Boredom.
