Concepción Patxot Cardoner

Concepción Patxot Cardoner, is a Professor in the Department of Economics at the University of Barcelona and a member of the Barcelona Economic Analysis Team (BEAT), directs the Xarxa de Referència en Economia i Polítiques Públiques (XREPP). Her research into the interaction between Demography, Economics and Public Policy - especially intergenerational transfers - has led her to more than 25 articles in specialist journals, in addition to participating in 40 other publications (books, reports, etc.). She has participated in more than 30 projects, many of them as a principal investigator, at regional, national and European level. Between 2006 and 2010 she coordinated research on the effects of population ageing at the Instituto de Estudios Fiscales (Madrid). She has carried out studies for various entities of the Public Administrations at regional, national and European level. She has collaborated as an advisor to the European Commission on pension, health and dependency policies within the framework of the open coordination method. She frequently appears in the media in debates on the sustainability of the pension system.
