Jorge Ferraz de Abreu is an associate professor with an aggregation at the University of Aveiro, Portugal, with a PhD in Communication Sciences and Technologies, a master's degree and a bachelor's degree in Electronic Engineering and Telecommunications.
He is Vice-coordinator of the DigiMedia Research Unit, Coordinator of the iTV Social Research Group, Technical Coordinator of the AlticeLabs@UA laboratory and Vice-Director of the PhD Program at CIPD.
He develops his research in the area of new media, multiplatform content and Interactive Television, with special emphasis on the development and evaluation of the User Experience (UX) of interactive applications (including the promotion of active aging).
He is author/co-author of more than 100 scientific publications and has been Principal Investigator of a wide range of research projects in collaboration with various entities, including the Foundation for Science and Technology, the European Commission, Portugal Telecom, Altran, Outsoft, MOG Technologies and Altice Labs. He is a member of several international research networks such as the European Innovation Partnership on Active and Healthy Ageing and RedAUTI / CYTED (of which he was National Coordinator). He has acted as reviewer in several international scientific journals and events, in which he has also participated in the respective Scientific Committees. He also serves as Technical Consultant in the area of Interactive TV for the IT industries.
