PSL project promotes health checks for seniors

Introduction 

With the aim of promoting active ageing, celebrating World Heart Day and commemorating the International Day of Older Persons, the University of the Algarve within the Project "PSL - Programme for a Longevity Society" (0551_PSL_6_E) funded by INTERREG V-A, Spain Portugal, (POCTEP), financed by the European Regional Development Fund (ERDF), will promote on 29 September 2021, a health screening, for residents over 65 years, in the municipality of Castro Marim. Parameters such as blood pressure, capillary glycaemia and oxygen saturation levels will be evaluated. 

This screening is an activity that had an initiative in the environment of the Project "CASTRO MARIM (WITH) LIFE", in partnership with the Association Odiana and the Municipality of Castro Marim, which aim to promote the autonomy of the elderly population, combat geographical isolation, but above all, break the inhibition and social isolation of the elderly (aggravated by the restrictions of the pandemic), with a diverse set of socio-cultural dynamics.
